Charles-Joseph-Émile Loubon (January 12, 1809 – March 1, 1863) was a French genre painter. Loubon was born in Aix. The son of a wealthy merchant, Loubon was fortunate to have parents who encouraged his artistic pursuits and he studied under Louis Mathurin Clérian at the École de dessin d'Aix-en-Provence, as well as Jean-Antoine Constantin and François Marius Granet.〔 He traveled with Granet to Rome in 1829, and in 1845 became director of the School of Practical Design at Marseilles.
