Émile Loubon

Charles-Joseph-Émile Loubon (January 12, 1809 – March 1, 1863) was a French genre painter.
Loubon was born in Aix. The son of a wealthy merchant, Loubon was fortunate to have parents who encouraged his artistic pursuits and he studied under Louis Mathurin Clérian at the École de dessin d'Aix-en-Provence, as well as Jean-Antoine Constantin and François Marius Granet.〔 He traveled with Granet to Rome in 1829, and in 1845 became director of the School of Practical Design at Marseilles.
He is known for his pastoral and animal paintings.〔(André Gouirand (1901) ''Les Peintres Provançaux'' ), Librairie Paul Ollendorff, Paris〕
Loubon is interred at the Cimetière Saint-Pierre in Marseilles.
